Chris Anderson: Walk to Tomorrow (Feature/Interview)

Chris Anderson: Walk to Tomorrow (Feature/Interview)

What inspires your music?

I'd be lying if I didn't first say God cause He was the one that gave me the talent to be able to write music and sing in the first place. In and out of the studio God gives me the strength to write and record. Aside from that, I draw inspiration from the things I've been through or things that I've experienced in life. I try to be honest with my music and I hope and pray that I never lose that integrity.

How did you start your professional recording career?

A man named Stephen Worrall was instrumental in this because he was an old music teacher of mine and he not only taught me how to play bass but he inspired me and encouraged me to get into the studio and start recording. I was young when it all started. Cut a demo with a band I was a part of during my younger years at age 15 and since then I've been trying to become better. For many years I would work with Stephen and he helped me not only get better at recording but I believe he also helped me get better at crafting songs. Seeing him work and working also with him I believe had a positive influence. He is the kind of guy that helps people because he loves what he does, not because of money and that's when you know that the love is real.

How did you come up with your single?

By My Side got started towards the end of 2020. My partner and I had just got back together and she helped me actually write a few lyrics. She was with me a lot when I was writing it but I do believe that God inspires me. Through these lyrics, it sounds romantic and it definitely can be thought of in this way, and it is; however, the lyrics and meaning behind the song also have to do with Christ and the strength that I believe my wife now was given to get through some of the hard times before that was getting in the way of us being together, some things that brought out the worst in me. The song didn't get completed until this year. Once I started recording it with producer Juvon Taylor, we were able to complete it and bring it to a stop.

What is your genre of music?

I've thought about this and if I had to sum it up at the moment I would say; singer-songwriter, Christian pop, a little alternative, and some other stuff cause it depends. Although this song I just put out "By My Side' is more on the Christian pop side, I don't always write in a pop style exactly.

Who are your influences?

Growing up, I've heard a lot of different artists and different kinds of music. Depending on the season, my tastes gravitate towards different sounds/different artists. I like everything from Jazz to Rock to Pop, Christian, etc. I believe God is a number one influence, but aside from that it would be, I believe, a mixture of what I've been exposed to growing up and up to this point but I do try to remain unique and have my own style. God has made everyone different, we should all try to embrace a unique style and thank God for it because trying to be a carbon copy of everybody else is not a good place to be I think, but that's just my opinion.

How do you define success?

Knowing that you're helping a large group of people, reaching out to make someone's day just a little brighter/a little happier. Helping to instill a little more hope in a person through God's blessings. Our talent as musicians is meant to inspire and to help save, spread love, and put out good messages in the world and I believe there needs to be more of that these days.

What can we expect from you before 2022 ends?

Hopefully more music. I'm not going anywhere as long as God keeps using me. I hope to reach a bigger audience in the future.
