Jada Lee: "September 13th" (Exclusive Interview)
What inspired the title of the song?
On September 13th, I found out that the guy I was seeing was in a relationship. I remember that day so vividly because I had been feeling the distance between us growing for months, and I had previously asked him if he was seeing someone else. He said no, of course. So, my heart dropped when the truth came out. As a songwriter, writing about your experiences is the best therapy. Here we are!
What was the production process around this song?
I engineered this song in my home studio and sent it to my guy, Justin Miller, to mix. Ryan Schwabe mastered it! I'm so blessed to have the team I have. I couldn't have done it without them!
How do you feel about love nowadays?
I grew from that experience and learned some valuable lessons. I worked on myself and am now in my first EVER healthy relationship. I don't think I would've appreciated it if I hadn't gone through so much negativity in the past.
What message do you want to leave your listeners with?
Sometimes you gotta experience the toxic to appreciate the healthy. Don't get discouraged by the dating pool. I know it seems like it has pee in it lol. But I promise that things will happen when they're supposed to. In the meantime, enjoy your single season and pour into yourself!
