Gabriél: "Movin' on" (Feature/Interview)
What is the most important thing you want your fans to know about you?
I want my fans to know that I love music. I am very passionate about creating music that resonates and connects us all. When I write songs or perform, I'm sharing pieces of my soul, real experiences, and genuine emotions. Every melody, every lyric comes from an authentic place. I want my fans to know that their support isn't just helping me live my dream; it's helping me share stories that might become part of their own life soundtracks. That connection means everything to me.
What is your recording process like for this song?
The recording process for this song was amazing! “Movin’ On” was actually written in 2021 and among all the songs I'd written, this one felt special, like it had a universal truth that needed to be shared. Working with Roy and Nina to bring this song to live was phenomenal. I remember my first day at the studio, I played a demo of my song to Roy and Nina and a few other members of the singers company and they were in awe of how well and creative the lyrics were written. From there Nina played the piano to try and catch the rhythm and instrumental to my song. She became my mentor and helped shape not just the song but my approach to vocals, teaching me about control and technique. She also taught me a lot about vocals, voice control and she also gave me vocal lessons in preparation for recording so that I sound the best I can on the track. The whole experience taught me that great music isn't just about writing good lyrics, it's about the collaborative energy that happens when passionate people come together.
What do you want your audience to feel when they listen to your music?
I want my audience to feel something real- whether it’s nostalgia, joy, or even a little bit of sadness. I want my music to be a mirror. Something that reflects real emotions and genuine experiences making my fans feel inspired and understood. If my songs can make someone smile or help them through a tough time, then I’ve done my job.
How would you describe your genre and sound?
My sound is really a reflection of who I am. My main two genres are R&B and pop. However, having strong reggae roots that ties into my Jamaican background, I want to represent my roots musically so I do make reggae music as well. I’m also a fan of hip-hop, rap, soul, and indie, so you might catch those influences in my sound as well. I don’t believe music should be confined in one box. Some days I’m in a soulful mood, other times I’m vibing to hip-hop or indie. What ties it all together are the harmonies and the storytelling in my lyrics. I love making music that feels right both when you’re deep in your thoughts and when you’re out celebrating life.
What are your goals and aspirations for 2025?
This year is all about growth and connection.I want to evolve as an artist and a person. My goal is to make and release more music for an EP or an album and do more live performances to connect with more fans. I’m also hoping to collaborate with other amazing artists from different genres because there is so much talent out there. Overall my goal for this year is to be an inspirational role model through my character, leadership and achievements.
