Krista Šujak: "Stronger" (Feature/Interview)
When did you first realize your ability to sing?
I started attending vocal lessons at the age of 5 years old. Even though I don't actually remember, my family tells me that at the age of 2, I would sing along with popular tv shows for kids
What is your music and message all about?
When I write music I prefer to pass a message through the lyrics. My first original song called Help Her passes a message to individuals, encouraging them not to ignore a person being bullied. Stronger is about the challenges that life brings, and how you won't let them stop you from achieving your dreams.
How would you describe your vocal style?
I believe my forte is ballads, however I like to experiment and sing different genres. It's always fun experimenting and sometimes I am surprised when I try different genres
What was the hardest part of making this song?
For me the hardest part was creating the lyrics
What was the most enjoyable part of making this song?
I mostly enjoyed creating music. I start with small ideas and eventually build a song gradually, adding and removing instruments. Creating the melody is also fun because I can experiment with my vocal capabilities. I don't let anyone listen to my creation until I'm almost finished. but then, I take my family's opinion because I consider their opinion as the reaction of a first time listener.
What is one feeling you want to leave listeners with?
I want my listeners to be able to relate to my music, to have their imagination stimulated and for them to be interested enough to go check my other singles
How do you prepare for your live performances?
While I am practicing at home, I practice in front of the mirror, I record myself to see all the flaws, and also perform in front of my family to get their feedback. Once on stage, I try to imagine myself in a bubble where my mission is to transmit the songs message to the audience. Performing in front of a live audience is one of the best feelings a singer can have..
