Mich: "Clean Slate" (Feature/Interview)
When did you first realize your ability to sing?
I first realized my ability to sing when I started to play and sing with the keyboard at a younger age.
What is your music and message all about?
My music is about being optimistic about life amidst dark times and finding means of reaching internal peace. For many people who struggle with anxiety, this song uplifts with the message of transcending the torrents of fear. To feel the fear and stand resilient against it until it is no longer there.
How would you describe your vocal style?
My vocal style is Neo soul and RnB
What was the hardest part of making this song?
The most difficult part of making this song was creating the chord progression and layering the harmonies in ways that echo the message. Initially, I did not understand how tempo worked so also playing to a metronome was something that was new.
What was the most enjoyable part of making this song?
The most enjoyable part of the song was probably hearing the chords being replicated by the pianist in a way that affirmed the heart of the song. It was then that my song strongly struck me as real. It wasn’t just an idea left for notebooks but artwork being shared outside of my vulnerable diary of emotions, concepts, and experiences.
What is one feeling you want to leave listeners with?
One feeling I want to leave listeners with is the warm feelings of love, reflection, and peace.
How do you prepare for your live performances?
I’ve never performed a live solo, but I’ve performed in groups like choir and currently in a cappella. I look forward to one day performing live.
