Airis Vasilieva: "Vibe" (Exclusive Interview)

Airis Vasilieva: "Vibe" (Exclusive Interview)

When did you first realize your ability to sing?

I remember, I was 4 years old and my father was listening to classic opera music,  I tried to copy the manner of the singer, it was funny moment and pretty good for a small child. I was singing a lot in my childhood and learning songs super fast. But despite this fact, my parents sent me to the dance classes, so at my 6 I had to first time fight for my dream and tell them that I don’t want to dance anymore, I want to be a singer.

What is your music and message all about?

I want to send a positive vibes to the people. My life wasn’t always easy. And it teached me that whatever is happening I still can be happy, outside of any circumstances, it is my responsibility. So my message is whatever is happening - catch your vibe, change the state of your mind and watch how the circumstances change towards it.

How would you describe your vocal style?

I think my vocal has changed a lot with time. My voice always had the strong national motifs, and I was obsessed with western oldschool pop music, I mixed it all, so I might have taken some of the style from the singers of 70s and 80s. Last few years I used to sing a lot of soft lounge songs, so my style have changed to more soft and harmonious.

What was the hardest part of making this song?

The hardest part for me was to bring the right atmosphere, the song has some Ukrainian national instruments in the drop, like reed pipe, and first release was in Ukrainian language, so I changed the lyrics versions almost 9 times in English while creating. The music is our work with my friends DELAUD, Eastern-Ukraine producers.

What was the most enjoyable part of making this song?

I love the feeling when I see the sense in what I am doing. I catched amazing feeling of purpose at the process. My idea was to make something simple and easy to understand for everyone but with the deep meaning at the same time. I think we made it

What is one feeling you want to leave listeners with?

I’d like to leave people relaxed and inspired after listening

How do you prepare for your live performances?

I used to perform everyday in restaurants for years, and now I tea dream about the stages. That’s the goal. I am working on my dancing skills and ability to communicate with audience. For sure I want to make a some kind of shows at my performances one day soon. That’s what the crowd loves, and I want to give it, with the higher purpose in my art. I really think that being an artist contains a huge part of ability to create a show from anything and anywhere.
