Gabriella Stella: 'R.I.P (Dead 2 Me)' (Feature/Interview)
What inspires your music?
I like to think of my music as my diary that anyone can read. It’s scary to be vulnerable but as artists, that's a part of our jobs.
How did you start your professional recording career?
I started recording when I was 15 with covers and doing covers across social media. It gave me a sense of what was to come recording my own music. I love the feeling of being in a studio and starting from nothing. Then nothing becomes a full-blown song in a matter of minutes, it's an incredible experience.
How did you come up with your single?
The single “R.I.P (dead 2 me)” talks about my relationship with my father. I wanted to be honest about what stage I am at. Sometimes you need to bury things to let yourself heal. One day I hope to have a better relationship with him. But for now, that’s where I am at and that’s ok.
What is your genre of music?
My genre is pop which means popular music. I love to experiment with my sounds and I think that's a part of being an artist. The best thing is evolving as a person is growing as an artist.
Who are your influences?
I would say Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, and any upcoming artists. I love looking at new artists who are on the verge of stardom. You can learn so much from other independent artists and top-charting artists.
How do you define success?
Success isn’t defined by numbers or how many followers you have. I used to be so obsessed with a number of things. I think it’s easy to go down a rabbit hole and lose yourself in that. But what I have learned is the individual defines success. If you are doing what makes you happy; for me, that is living life successfully.
What can we expect from you this year?
I am working on new music and always have things brewing. For now; I am just going to focus on enjoying the holidays with my family. But expect some great things for 2023 and can't wait to release new things!
