LaHi: The Purge EP (Exclusive Interview)
What inspires your music?
inspiration for me is an odd thing, it’s often little phrases that will get stuck in my head and I’ll write them down at either a title or lyric and I’ll develop from there. Or alternative I’ll write an entire song from a simple melody or chord progression and it will just spill out of experience or emotion
How did you start your recording career?
I still feel like I haven’t started honestly. Fresh out of high school a friend of mine asked if I wanted to do vocals for some tracks he had done so I went over and wrote some little pop melodies that then got put up on Spotify. From there I developed an a cappella song from home and recorded and produced it myself. Only recently have I actually gotten anyone else involved in the process and I’m assuming my next release after the EP will be my first “external” release; that being both recording and producing done by professionals
How did you come up with your single?
My EP got born out of the start of quarantine 2020. I had just moved home after living out of home for just over a year and wasn’t very happy that fact. So stormy Monday was written and from there the other songs were birthed within the next few months; the theme across the board was pretty consistent so I decided to make “the purge” a reality.

How do you define success?
Music success is so tricky to define as it definitely is a personal thing. For some it could be the creation of the work itself and others it’s the results from the release. Personally, I see myself to be successful if I’m loving and living from music. It’s not necessarily the people listening but whether I am being wholly honest with it and still can create a full time career out of it
What can we expect from you in 2021?
Big big things! I’m going on tour with my band following the EP release; around NSW mainly and Canberra! Once that ends we’re hoping to hop right back in the studio and record a full length album!
