Manuela Rufolo: "The Moment You Feel" (Exclusive Interview)
What inspires your music?
My music is inspired by the feelings I experience and that sometimes I don’t manage to express in a different way. Above all when the feelings are very deep and do not come to the surface very easily.
So it is a way to express myself fully and share these parts of me with the outside. It is a spontaneous, and sometimes, unconscious process for me.
How did you start your recording career?
I started in 2012 when I was living in Italy thanks to a producer who believed in me and helped me to record and produce my songs.
How did you come up with your single?
I had just learned that one of my acquaintances was suffering an illness and I was deeply saddened by the news. So I tried to seek relief in music and I started to sing a melody.. ant then I added some sentences .. later on I realized that the song I was creating was my reaction to the sad news. Through this song I expressed my deep willing to encourage and support the person in trouble.
What is your genre of music?
My songs are pop songs, my purpose is to transport the listener to my world through great music and vocal atmospheres.
Who are your influences?
I am a singer so my greater inspirations are gifted vocalist with unique voice and singing style :
Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Amy Winehouse, the jazz singer Nina Simone and Italian singers Giorgia, Mina and Mia Martini.
How do you define success?
For me success is creating something which corresponds to my taste, my personality, my values, something in which I can fully identify myself..
I think that if you can do this the audience will appreciate you / your creation because they will recognise your authenticity and uniqueness.
What can we expect from you in 2021?
I hope that my song will reach as many people as possible around the world :) and I expect to move forward creating new music vibes.
