JC Sol (Feature/Interview)
When did you first realize your ability to sing?
According to my parents, I sang my first song at 18 months which was “Tonight, You Belong to Me”, and I haven’t stopped since. My mother who was a gifted vocalist had a short stint as a Big Band Singer in the 40s, so the house was always filled with music from the Jazz Artists of the day. As a teen, I spent many long hours in my room singing to my favorite 45s and 33s. Although I loved all genres, when it came to vocalizing, my music of choice was Motown….I used to love to pull out my “microphone brush” and imitate Diana Ross in the mirror.
What is your music and message all about?
Love songs are my thing. The message usually ends up uplifting, but I can also write some hurtin’ songs.
How would you describe your vocal style?
Adult Contemporary R & B.
What was the most challenging part of making this song?
I have to say that this one was an absolute joy to write and produce, but the most tedious part for any indie artist is getting the music distributed, which can be an uphill battle.
What was the most enjoyable part of making this song?
Working with my producers was a blast. They were both so knowledgeable, generous, and fun to work with!
What is one feeling you want to leave listeners with?
My hope is ultimately to have the listener feel the vibe, connect with the story and sing along.
How do you prepare for your live performances?
Due to the pandemic, performing live is something that’s been limited in the last few years, but when an opportunity arises, I do everything possible leading up the to event to ensure the best performance possible. This means Practice….Practice….Practice!!!
